Uber Illegal in Thailand, New Taxi Companies Rise

Taxi is an everyday requirement. Millions of people rely on taxis for their daily needs. Someone has to reach work; someone has to get to the hospital, kids getting to college and some people just want to get to some place for one need or the other.

When Uber entered the scene of taxi’s it quite literally revolutionized the market in terms of how to commute from one place to another in the most cost-effective way. Uber was cheap, easy and comfortable.

This is probably why Uber expanded globally in such a great speed. What started in the US, quickly gained popularity all over the world. In less than a decade, Uber became synonymous to not just taxis but any mobile based on demand service. But the shocking thing is, just as fast as it had spread, Uber services have started being banned from different countries.

What we mean is that Uber is no longer the be all and end all in all the countries. There is a gaping hole in the taxi segment and someone needs to fill it up. Thailand, for example, is a place that is thronged with millions of people every single day. Tourists, especially look for cabs for smooth transportation. But, now that Uber is banned there, what could be the possible solution.

Why the legal debacle over Uber Taxis?

Thailand is a unique country. It has a very proactive and growth-centric approach towards different kinds of businesses. So, it is of critical significance that any company or any business that is begun here ensures that it does not hurt or affect the business of the local people there.

Now, one could argue that the drivers of Uber are the local people, but the main concern is that in spite of that, the company that stands to make the money is Uber itself. What’s more, many drivers in Thailand have complained about how the company treats them. Since they are all independent contractors, they aren’t specifically treated as employees. They miss out on the benefits that they are supposed to get as employees and are stuck with terrible payouts as per their “contracts”.

These issues are what instigated many people to actually take legal action against Uber. Today’s market is much more active than it was in the yesteryears. People who are looking for a solution to a problem aren’t waiting for someone else to fulfill the need. They are there to take the reins and handle issue themselves. Just like Uber was born with the single objective of making on demand transportation available on a need basis. Now that it is out of the picture, many local taxi players are looking for an app based solution to ensure their digital presence.

How can the local taxi entrepreneurs start their own app?

Taxi apps are not uncommon these days. Technology has made it increasingly easy for the world to move forth with digital trends. Considering this, it is easy to look for taxi apps online. All you need to do is look up the internet for a Taxi app or an Uber clone.

You will come across a list of companies that offer these apps. Now, the tough task is to ensure that you pick the right solution. But how can you tell which app to choose?

Here are a few chief things that you must look at when you plan on buying the app:

1 Is it white labeled?

You don’t want the app to have a different logo or brand name. It is your app and your logo should be on it. When you buy the app ensure that the company you buy it from does the white labeling for you. White labeling is the process of making the application your own.

Basically, when an app is developed, it has all the markings of the team that developed it. Through white labeling, the team then puts your logo and your brand name everywhere on the app. They also put the language and currency of your preference on the application.

2 Do you get the source code?

Having the uber clone source code is the only way you can modify the app by yourself. Otherwise, you will be stuck with what you have and every time you need a change, you will have to go back to the company you bought it from and pay an additional charge to rectify it.

The source code of the application is the skeleton. Making any changes to the bone structure will change the overall appearance of the application. Initially, you may think that the app you have is completely self-sufficient. However, with time, you may want different changes within it.
This is why you have to make sure that you have complete source code with you. As and when your app progresses and you feel the need for amendments, you can go right ahead and make them.

If you don’t get the source code, you will always be dependent on the company that sold it to you for any kind of change or modification. That might end up being a very expensive option. What’s more, if you choose to hire your own team to modify the app, they will have to spend a lot of time in understanding the code itself before they can make any changes.

Apart from these two chief things, there are a few other important aspects like checking the company background and making sure that it is the right one for your business.
